As a faculty for Coloplast, Dr. Williams was a featured guest at a well-attended course on both basic and advanced surgical principles, anatomy, and surgery for both penoscrotal and infrapubic approaches for penile prosthetic placement. Dr Williams’ main objective was to teach the basic skills and advanced techniques specifically for the placement of a penile implant using the infrapubic approach.
Friday night consisted of a meet and greet with dinner along with faculty didactics covering how to approach difficult cases and revisions along with recognizing complications and circumventing them. Saturday morning included basic and detailed surgical techniques for proper placement of penile prosthetic implants as well as preoperative and postoperative care and management. Saturday afternoon consisted of a cadaver lab to allow the attendees to put their new knowledge to practical use. The day ended with a final Q&A session and final remarks.
The entire weekend course was very robust and interactive between the faculty and attendees at all sessions and also allowed for the faculty to interact with each other, even sometimes gentle pimping with friendly poking to keep things lively and entertaining–but to prove that even the faculty learn from each other.
